What if helping a stranger throws you into the lives of two ominous families, claiming to be the descendants of Greek gods? One night, in an instant, the life of twenty-two-year-old Lena Wilcox is forever changed after helping a stranger. She finds herself caught in between the feud of two mortal families with a blood bond to the Greek gods--the Andros family and the Anastogus family. Both claim superiority, both vie for the Throne of Olympus. The God of Gods banished Zeus and the other Olympus gods long ago, choosing descendants to rule on the throne in their place. This was meant to right the wrongs carried out against the first demigod Argus and the other hybrid offspring of the gods. The destiny of the throne has yet to be fulfilled.

Author Quiz interviews A.M. Day...

What is it you love most about writing?

There are so many things that come to mind, but it's mostly being able to create an alternate place in the world or a fantasy realm to slip in and out of when the real world gets a little wonky.

What are you working on now and what projects and ideas do you have lined up next?
I'm finishing up book two from The Throne of Olympus series and working on a YA spin-off series featuring the teens from The Throne of Olympus.

Would you expect yourself to be most creative as a writer shut off on a desert island or immersing yourself in a busy social life?
Ha! Sadly, I would be more creative shut off on a desert island. But if I was writing non-fiction, my social butterfly would emerge.

Would your book, The Throne of Olympus, work best as a movie adaptation or as a TV series?
Definitely a movie.

Without being too specific and without revealing too much about the plot, have you ever killed off a character who you felt particularly attached to and if so was it an emotional experience writing the relevant scene?
Yes. The scene flowed and it was easy to write, but then reading through the scene...there were a lot of tears the first few times and some tears still trickle down even now when I read that scene--totally unexpected emotions for me as the writer.

What do you think stimulates sales the most; positive reviews or advertising?
Advertising is working for me right now. More positive reviews couldn't hurt.

What advice would you give to publishing houses with regard to how to go forward and adapt to the industry over the next few years?
There are some great manuscripts by unknowns out there, so more open-mindedness and more rounds of accepting unsolicited manuscripts to start.

What are some of your favourite quotes from reviews that you've received?
One of my five star reviews on Amazon:
"Fantastic....I've been a fan of Greek mythology for over 30 years. Really enjoyed this fresh retelling of classic Greek characters...would make a great movie."

Can you remember the moment when you logged into your author account and discovered you had made your first sale?
Yes and it was one of those moments of undying gratitude, a moment that meant it finally happened after waiting so long, a moment that said, "you're a real author now in paperback and in cyberspace."

What advice would you give to a new author who has just finished writing their first novel and is unsure as to what steps to take next?
Firstly, don't over think it--the steps. Figure out the best route to take (indie or traditional). And if you don't have a marketing/promo plan...start one...NOW! Most importantly, have fun with it because the hard part is over, you've already written the book. Go with your gut!

Who do you see as your target audience?
My target audience would be lovers of Greek myth told with a modern-day twist and fantasy, and paranormal romance fans.

Is there a TV series or movie which you think would appeal to a similar audience as your book, The Throne of Olympus?
I think fans of Angel and Charmed would enjoy this book series.

Here is a short sample of A.M. Day's writing:

“My king’s heart broke after the death of his sister, but it shattered the day he learned of my betrayal. This was one of the most sorrowful and difficult times we ever had to bear.

“There was a soggy chill throughout Mt. Olympus that day. He found me standing in the corridor. I watched as he held onto the Temptress Allura by her neck. The deceit had been exposed. He had heard it from Allura’s lips.

“The anger in his eyes flared forth like the red glow of the setting sun. He flung Allura to the ground. She moaned in pain after hitting the hard, cold stone. The more I tried to explain the more it angered him. He knew of my trips to Under Earth and my agreement with Queen Persephone.

“A streaming force of thunderbolts began to blaze from his fingers. The power of Zeus coursed through him stronger now as he struck and showered crumbled stone down around us. He threw one hand high in the air and pointed in my direction. I couldn’t move; partly from the fear of his rage and partly because I knew he wouldn’t hurt me. At least I hoped he wouldn’t. He hesitated with sadness in his eyes, but also reproach. Finally, he struck the wall behind me. It didn’t matter that the Unworthy played a dreadful hand in his sister’s unexpected demise. In his mind, I was the reason his sister was dead. After all, it was me who brought his enemy back into his life.
